GivesFigures to Show H - a Great Saving-. I yOT WITHSTANDING JLh.it it is H I still oarly in the season the pco- H pic of Salt Lake have begun to H waste the water with, such un- H warranted recklessness tlint Supcrin- H tendent Hines of the water-works dc- partmcnt has been compelled to make sprinkling restrictions in certain parts of the city. From the superabundance H of water produced in the past season It H was believed that no restrictions would have to be made this summer at all, "but this has not proved the case. Rosl-dents Rosl-dents in the northeastern part of the city, receiving their water supply from ihe high-line tank, have been wasting the water with such abandon that Mr. H Hines has prohibited the use of water H for sprinkling between the hours of S H a. m. and 5 p. m. I The above restrictions have been placed upon all residents living1 "in that part of the city north of Fifth street and cast of K street. The wasting of the water by the residents on, the lower end of the line has taken the water away from the university, the residents of Popperton- and others living higher up. The people, Mr. Hines says, turn the water loose in their ynrds and let it run continuously without even supplying sup-plying n nozzle to the end of their hose. Any person violating the rule prohibiting prohibit-ing sprinkling between the hours mentioned men-tioned will have his hydrant turned off and be deprived of water altogether. This Is the only way, says the superintendent, superin-tendent, to prevent waste. |
