Show RAILROAD ENGINEERS PAY OUT BIG SUM LOS ANGELES. Cal.. May 24. The convention of tho Brotherhood of Locomotive Lo-comotive Engineers resumed consideration considera-tion of its insurance report at today's session. The report shows that during the operation of thc insurance plan $12,-500,000 $12,-500,000 has been paid out In benefits, averaging at the present time 5100,000 monthly to beneficiaries and disabled members. The Insurance report showed a greater advancejn that branch of the brotherhood's work during thc past biennial than at any lime In Its history. It Is hoped by the delegates to reach the work of electing grand ofilcers within with-in the next two or three days. According Accord-ing to the statement of several of the brotherhood leaders. Grand Chief Engineer En-gineer W. S. Stone will be elected to fill the position which he now holds by reason rea-son of thc death of Grand Chief P. M. Arthur. There arc two other candidates prominently mentioned for thc place, H. L. Wills and Matt II. Shay. For first assistant grand chief engineer, F. S. Ingraham has no opposition. For the ofilce of grand guide there appears to be but one name before thc convention, that of R. W. Kelly of Los Angeles. Officers of the Insurance department were elected as follows: President, M. E. Lulch; vice-president, Amos Becler; general secretary and treasurer, William Wil-liam P. Prenter; trustees, John II. Welch. F. A. lSurgoff. P. Kllduff, H. B. Plummer, M. H. Shay. The ladles' auxiliary raised the salary of the grand president and secretary from 5000 to $1200, respectively. Thc vlco-presldent was raised from 5400 to 5600. . |
