Show MUCH MORE EMPHATIC. On Sunday, The Tribune had' from Col. E. F. Holmes a statement of his position, declining- to be a candidate for Governor. Some of his friends, .not taking that statement to be. an effectual ef-fectual and positive declination, the Colonel has made public this further statement, which is more emphatic, and must finally settle the question as to his relation to uny candidacy for office: Is there any languago strong enough to say that I am not a canilldalo for Governor Gover-nor of this State, would not accept a nomination If tendered, and would not serve If cloqtod? Becauso ono nay havo a few- enthuslastla friends or some ono thinks a certain party might be useful under un-der certain conditions, Is ho reason why ono who Is perfectly satisfied as things aro, who Is content to llvo In and enjoy this beautiful country, ohould be constantly con-stantly paraded before the public as desiring de-siring somothlng that he has no taste for.
