Show I MURRAY SMELTER MAKES A RECORD IiToro 'Than Six Hundred Thousand Tons Reduced at Its Furnaces During Fiscal Year.; Jflr EMORANDA aubmltted to Mana-WL Mana-WL eer C. W. Whitley yesterday morning and which ia to be incorporated in-corporated In his annual report on operations at the Murray furnaces of the American Smelling: and Refining company, shows that during: tho anniversary anni-versary ending- April 30 last there was rttduccd no ess than 630,000 tons of material ma-terial and yet Its receipts have Increased In-creased In a manner to necessitate the Installation of additional furnacee, upon which work will have begun In the next few days. The record Is an amazing: one, the enormous tonnage exceeding that of any in the system of plants that are operated by the company, and that It will give even better account of Itself the present year the management is quite w-ell assured. There Is other data, much of lr, indeed, contained In the preliminary exhibit, but with this the management could not be Induced to part, except It Issue through the general gen-eral oJIlcfes of tho company In New York With the stupendous Increase in the tonnages of ore that was reduced re-duced with a battery of eight furnacca, all the units of which were not brought into continuous operation until the closing hours of 1D03, was a corresponding correspond-ing increase In the output of bullion that Issued from them, this divided between be-tween silver and lead and copper and gold, and In the absence of any additional addi-tional figures the tonnage of ore foretells fore-tells a new record In the output of Vlah's diggings. Nothing emphasizes this more, perhaps, than docs the order to proceed without delay with the Installation In-stallation of two more blasts, this affording af-fording a total of ten, while Manager Whitley says that to meet the requirements require-ments of the producer he Is authorized to draw upon the executive department depart-ment for even further equipment. To the management: the exhibit for the fiscal year Is no more gratifying than Is it to -the producer,- who has found not a little encouragement' In the liberal policy observed by the present administration and which latter is doing do-ing his work, that the efficient battery over which Superintendent Rhodes so ably presides shall never experience a want Development of the silver-lead mines, indeed, has never been more active ac-tive than during the present administration adminis-tration of the American's affairs, and it will continue 'as long as its present policy Is exercised. |
