Show Land Case Settled I Milwaukee Dec 11The three suits instituted by the receivers Payne Oaks and Rouse against the St Paul lInn lIn-n 8 Manitoba Railroad company com-pany growing out pf the dispute overland over-land grants in the state of Minnesota haye been amicably settled and an order of dismissal Avlll be entered in a few days In the statement the Northern Pacific Pa-cific receivers secure 75745 acres of valuable val-uable land all in Minnesota and 82000 incash Most important of all however how-ever is the assurance that settlers who have purchased land in good faith from the Manitoba company are not to be disturbed in their possession but instead in-stead the two companies are to join in making the titles good and binding bind-ing The Manitoba company takes 39927 acres of land J and 89000 iJ cash Three > i suits grew out of the land grants made by congress to the Northern Pacific and the land grants made subsequently to the state of Minnesota and to the Sa Paul Minneapolis Manitoba company com-pany The grants of the state to the Manitoba company subsequently encroached en-croached upon the one made to the mae Northern Pacific company but no action ac-tion was taken until 1 years elapsed when the first suit was brought This raised several questions of law and a compromise was reached |
