Show AT THE HIGHLAND BOY Wonderful Progress Noted I This Big Enterprise The Bingham Bulletin in its weekly mining summary says Another large cleanup was made at the Highland Boy mill last week followed fol-lowed by the shipment of several hundred hun-dred pounds goldmixed cyanides estimated es-timated to be worth 20 per pouhd I was the result of less than a months run and must have been highly gratifying grat-ifying to the promoters of the Carr Fork bonanza A fact being demonstrated demon-strated by the cyanide production in connection with development of the immense sulphide areas from which I shipments of crude ore are steadily increasing in-creasing is that Messrs Newhouse and Well have planned wiser than they I knew and that the outcome will be probably the most profitable mining enterprise in Utah The result of the years operations are marvelous A year ago the Highland Boy property consisted of a group of comparatively The I undeveloped prospects company has during the past few months acquired I ac-quired control of numbers of mining I locations in the main group vicinage locatons and will evidently widen its operations I plant neighboring A large concentrating I ing or added to the combination mill will soon become a necessity and is among yi the certainties of the near future fu-ture Myron W Davis has a force of men I I doing assessment work on his Mountain Moun-tain Maid and Golden Wreath promising promis-ing claims adjoining the Yankee Bdy Bonham and Levant They are in ore theassays from which have averaged 20 in gold Mr Davis will also soon resume work in the Protection tunnel and put in a car and track I has now been run 425 feet and will be extended 800 to 900 feet farther to catch the Nast vein which i Will strike at considerable consider-able depth below the workings in the Nast mine Rallens Maynard are doing development devel-opment work on their group of claims north of the Keystone which are making mak-ing a promising showing They broke into a ledge a few days ago which leads the boys to believe that they are I on the track of a small Klondike if it keeps up its lick They are stayers and their efforts deserve to be rewarded re-warded Their property adjoins the old Damphool ground where the strike of ore was recently made Word is received that the final shipment ship-ment of Last Chance mill machinery vas made last Saturday I not delayed de-layed it should be here in about ten days and with weather favorable will be running within three weeks there after C J i Hodge owner of the Last Chance group of mines is expected to be here from Michigan early in January Jan-uary Work was begun Nov 27 on the Cobbler Cob-bler claim of the McKinley group which is intersected by the great veins of the Dalton Lark side A tunnel was started and within ten feet it struck the top of a vein and the whole bottom is now showing ore It is a black sulphide of copper and looks very promising Messrs Griffin Williams Bevel and Hicks recently secured a lease on the Washington and some adjoining claims and are taking out and shipping ship-ping finelooking lead ore This property prop-erty adjoins the great Highland BOy group and no doubt will prove a bonanza I bo-nanza with deeper work Dan W Swan exMarshal Nat Brigham I Brig-ham Roy Bemis et al are planning to build an extensive custom mill in the i main canyon opposite the old Sing Lee i tOg cabin y site We understand the ground has been purchased and that plans are drawn R S Guiliani has a small but valuable I valu-able shipment of ore en route from the Venice at the head of Cottonwood He slode i partly down the hill but storms interfering had to leave it scattered along the trail where it may lie until spring J W Jones superintendent of the Argus has purchased of J M Walker I his interest in the Yukon in Dixon gulch and with his partner R K Smith will soon begin development work j The Hast shipment of Amazon ore gave returns of 12 per cent copper and I 46 ounces sliver per ton The Amazon is on the Julia Dean vein all right The Bulletin will publish a table Dec 31 which will show that 48 mines of this district shipped ore during 1897 I all the mill projects now formulating formu-lating materialize Bingham will soon have a full quota of reduction works Two deals of considerable importance were closed this week The particulars have not yet been made public Mr Parson has sold his lease on the Levant and will depart for the Klondike Klon-dike in March |
