Show I PIONEER LIBRARY I I Another Step Negotiations For the Transfer I S Another step was taken yesterday toward I to-ward expediting negotiations for the I transfer of the Pioneer library to the i possession of the city library trustees j The conference committees appointed I expect to bring in a full and satisfactory satisfac-tory report at next Saturdays meeting I meet-ing of the Pioneer associations stockholders I holders and the trustees of the city I library board I I Yesterday aftcrnoons meeting was i held at the libiary room of the pioneer I association Five hundred and thirty I j shares of stock out of 502 issued shares I I were represented in person or by proxy I II Judge C W Bennett president of the 1 I I association was in the chair Those t present in addition were Christopher Diehl George N Lawrence Fred Simon Si-mon W F James General Willard Young of the association Major H CHill C-Hill Mrs Rachel Miller and William Igleheart of the city board Judge Bennett suggested that a committee com-mittee be appointed to confer with the committee of the Masonic grand lodge then in session and reach some agreement I agree-ment if possible as to the terms and I I conditions under which the association would transfer its books and interests to the city board Major Hill mad a statement of the sources from which contributions tothe Pioneer library had been received and what interests were represented in the 28000 and more which had been invested I in-vested in the Pioneer library The major ma-jor also indicated a general way the I views of the city board as to what it could do in return for the ownership I of the books I W F James who represented JOO shares of stock held by the grand lodge of Masons spoke of the obligations owitfg by the Pioneer association for various accounts and said the Masonic fraternity was interested in seeing the city in possession of the library as soon I as some equitable claims could be adjusted ad-justed The discussion closed with the adoption adop-tion of the following resolution Resolved Tht the chair appoint a committee of three of the stockholders stockhold-ers of the Pioneer Library association to confer with the committee of the grand lodge now in session with the object of transferring the property of the Pioneer Library association to the I city and with full power to act for that subject to ratification purpose ratfcaton by the stockholders Judge Bennett appointed Christopher I Diehl and AV F James of the stockholders stock-holders and Major H C Hill of the I city board and also representative by proxy of Pioneer stockholders I |
