Show RESCUED AT SEA Big Etruria Came to the Aid of a Sinking Vessel I Queenstown Dec llThe Cunard line steamer Etruria from New York I Dec 4 for Liverpool arrived here at 143 today She reports havingsighted at 230 p m yesterday 140 miles east of Fastnet the British steamer Mill field Captain Willis from Baltimore on Nov 23 for Belfast flying signals of distress The decks were being swept by heavy seas her funnels were gone and she was sinking The Etruria stood by her for 12 hours manned a lifeboat and rescued the 23 men composing com-posing the crew of the Millfield The rescued men say the Millfield encountered a hurricane Wednesday last during which a mountainous sea washed over the Vessel carrying away her bridge and boats flooding the engine en-gine room and putting out her fires The Millfields crew were exhausted from pumping when rescued The lifeboat of the Etruria was manned by First Officer Dodd and nine sailors The passengers of the Etrurla heered the lifeboats crew on their return re-turn from the Millfield and presented them with a purse of 50 Several of the Millfields crew were injured |
