Show SHOWING or THE BRAITCH l A Slarysvale Sline Which Will Soon Bank As a Bich Producer I In yesterdays issue The Heralds Mnrysvale correspondent gave the details de-tails of recent disclosures in the 1 Branch mine some distance up Bullion canyon and in the near vicinity of the isotea Webster mine owned Hon R II G Chambers and his associates F Six or seven years ago when the Dalton Dal-ton mine was causing commotion and I excitement in mining circles the i Branch was in progress of development i develop-ment At that time the property i i which embraces several claims on the mountain on which the Dalton is located I lo-cated higher up was owned by the Deseret Gold Mining Milling company com-pany of which FMas Mqrris was a director di-rector and officer and a heavy stockholder stock-holder Several tunnels wer run into 1 the hill in order t cut the contact of J t quartz which 1 i vas so plainly traceable Ion I-on the surface One of these the lower tunnel T was pushed in for a considerable consider-able distance and large bodies of ore I i disclosed carrying from 20 to 25 in gold silver and copper and in this I body there was a small streak oZvry high grade ore but not in sufficient quantity to pay working expenses In fact the property was a milling proposition pro-position and at one time the assurance that a plant would be erected on the ground a good but complications arose and the company became financially finan-cially embarrassed and to such an extent ex-tent that the mine was later on sold at marshals sale and passed into the possession of Walter Steed and E T Ashton of this city and Mrs John I Jsaacsof Farmington who have preserved I pre-served the title by doing the annual assessment work and nothing more the work for the whole group being done in the lower tunnel This l fall work was again resumed I under The superintendency of that veteran miner Ruben DeWitt and it was not long ago that the rich streak I in the vein began to widen ranging from G to 15 inches in width Samples j of ore were sent to Mr Morris who is looking after the business interests of I the owners Fire tests showed that it carried values of 160 ounces in silver I and 14 in gold to the ton Mr Morris suspecting that these were picked samples sam-ples sent back for an average of the pay streak and when this was received he AVS surprised to find that i was of higher value still and that the metallic metal-lic contents of the mineral showed cal ues of 190 ounces silver and 4134 in gold to the ton and Mr DeWitt writes that he is now satisfied that the mine will soon be on a paying basis as the I vein is growing stronger as the workings I work-ings are pushed into the mountain f The lOWer tunnel is now in a distance of from 550 to 600 feet the face showing I abody of low grade mineral 1 feet in I gde width which at the present quotation of the metals will run at least 20 to the ton in gold silver and copper while in this zone is the pay streak which occasionally oc-casionally widens to 15 inches while above there is from 400 to 500 feet of sloping ground The Branch has been a longwinded affair but the indications are that it I has at last reached the point where the owners will realize something for their years of toil and the expenditure of I large sums of money |
