Show llNFOCUSl , Ron Howard directs and produces movie Ron Howard of "Happy Days" fame is on TV again, but this time he's not acting. Howard directed "Through the Magic Pyramid," a light-hearted light-hearted fantasy-adventure to air two consecutive Sundays, Dec. 6 and 13, on NBC. The script for the program was co-authored by his father. Ranee Howard, who also served as co-producer with Herbert J. Wright. The younger Howard was executive execu-tive producer. The story concerns an 11-year-old boy who returns to ancient Egypt where he uses some 20th-century tricks to help young Prince Tut ascend to the throne of the Pharaoh. Vic ("Alice") Tayback, Jo Anne Worley, Hans Conried, Chris Barnes and Eric Greene star. In part one, a small toy pyramid pyr-amid is given to young Bobby ruttle as a birthday present and it brings more excitement excite-ment than he could ever imagine. Magically, Bobby ' Is tran sported to ancient Egypt, far removed from his native Oregon. And because he is still wearing his school's football uniform and his hair is blond, the Egyptians are sure he is a messenger from the gods. Bobby soon befriends young Prince Tut, who is a pawn in a deadly game involving palace intrigue and warring religious factions. In part two, the young prince is captured by the evil Gen. Horembeb, who plans to wed the sinister Moontdeme and rule the empire. With the help of some modern trickery, Bobby finally tracks down the kidnapped Tut and, in a race against time, they rush to stop Horembeb from crowning himself Pharaoh. In the finale, a full-scale battle unfolds with Egyptian chariots, warriors and archers under the command of the heroic Gen. Ay, fighting the v forces of Horembeb. |
