Adding that while the program prog-ram goal is to serve needy families with young children first, it also includes reaching out to those elderly residents who are living alone without nearby family, tb family with young children. Contributions can include toys, foodstuffs or cash to be used for buying goods for the families, she says. On top of that, voluteers are needed to help man the telephones and give some office assisance to FARMINGTON It's getting get-ting close to "that time," again, when minds turn to glittering glit-tering lights, Santa Claus and presents under the Christmas tree. BUT FOR some, perhaps more so than ever, this holiday season may mean a lot less under that tree for the youngs ters due to hard times that have knocked on many doors. There may be help in store for some needy families, though, thanks to the "Sponsors for Santa" program sponsored by the Davis Community Action program. The deadline for those wishing assistance is Dec. II. Roselyn Dechart, program coordinator, says participation participa-tion isn't limited to only those considering themselves needy directly requesting help. Friends, relatives and neighbors neigh-bors feeling they know someone some-one in such a situation are welcome wel-come to call, she emphasizes. The numbers are 451-3355, south county; and 773-7800, ext. 355, north county. TO MAKE that holiday as bright as possible for recipients, reci-pients, however, sponsors for families are needed.
