Woods Cross beat Layton 68-64 in a see-saw battle that either team could have won. Things are still the same as Coach Ron Johansen is still searching for the right people. "We're very inexperienced and we showed it by making too many mistakes. We were looking for the right combination combina-tion at guard and by shuffling in people all the time we may have created some of the problems. prob-lems. We're still looking for the right combination but then that's what pre-season is for." BIG JOHN White led the Vikes with 19 points and a bundle bun-dle of rebounds while Scott Mabey was right behind with 15 points and plenty of boards. Junior Kevin Smith added 11 points in a strong showing. Bountiful and Clearfield displayed dis-played what everyone knew prior to their game. "WE GOT outhustled I know that" noted a disappointed dis-appointed Mike Hall. "We had some bright spots but also we showed we need work in other areas. We need to get more scoring from our other front-liners front-liners to take the pressure off of Danny Bell." Dan still managed to get 17 points in the game although he was the center of attention by the Clearfield defense. Juniors Gary Seljaas and Blake Izatt were next in line with 9 a piece while senior Richie Weight added 8. |
