I A' It may be a recession but the hearts of Davis County residents resi-dents and businesses are overflowing over-flowing in their support of United Un-ited Way fund-raising efforts. AS OF Friday, 94 percent of the $333,000 goal had been reached, with more than $31 1,000 collected. That amount was more than the final tally for 1980, United Way Executive Director Larry Burdett says, when $300,393 wu raised. i' IN SOUTH Davis the; goal has already been surpassed, with 102 percent raised, or just above $147,000. Meanwhile, in north Davis, 86 percent of the $186,000 goal has been attained, at $160,791. "We are confident we will meet our goal-we're trying to reach it by the end of the month,,' Mr. Burdett says. Major contributors include Max Factor, where $30,223 has been pledged by employees em-ployees and $5,500 from the firm; Associated Piping, where $15,271 has been pledged by employees with the company set to match that to the dollar. Smith Management's warehouse ware-house in Layton has pledged $8,029 while the office has earmarked ear-marked another $1,911 for nearly $10,000. At Davis School District, $22,205 has been pledged while Eaton Kenway's pledges have also surpassed the $20,000 mark at $20,049. A BREAKDOWN of various divisions includes a goal of nearly $120,000 for the Freeport Center with $106,641 raised so far; "Major North" at a $50,800 goal and $39,433 raised; major south, $133,670 or nearly $4,000 above the goal. The United Way oversees distribution of charitable funds to a variety of agencies ranging from health-related to youth groups and includes more than 80 agencies along the Wasatch Front that receive support.
