Show Bountiful Raises Council Salaries CONTINUED FROM FRONT noted that Bountiful's elected officials compared to other cities have been underpaid for several years. The council salary was increased in-creased to $125 per month and the mayor's salary was upped to $150 per month in 1969. In 1977, eight years later, the salaries were increased to $150 and $300 per month respectively, respec-tively, plus the $200 per year car allowance. "BOUNTIFUL has increased in-creased in size, population and complexity of duties," said Mr. Hardy. "The number of meetings and demands on the mayor and council have increased in-creased tremendously in the last five years. This council is very progressive and they should at least be compensated for their efforts." The new increases will become be-come effective Jan. I and the additional money will come from the city's contingency fund the same source of revenue re-venue as was used to pay the city employee's adjusted salaries adopted last month, Mr. Hardy explained. |
