Show Baha'is Hold Day Of Thanksgiving On Nov. 26, the Baha'is of Bountiful held a dual celebration celebra-tion of Thanksgiving and of the Baha'i Day of the Covenant. Cove-nant. THE DAY of the Covenant was established by 'Abdul'l-Baha, 'Abdul'l-Baha, son of Baha'u'llah, prophet-founder of the Baha'i faith, as a gift to the early believers. be-lievers. The purpose of the day is to commemorate the special agreement Baha'u'Uuah made with his followers to provide for a designated successor, so that when he died, his faith would not be split by divisions and schisms. In his will and testament, a portion of which was read at the celebration, Baha'u'llah exhorted his followers to turn to 'Abdu'l-Baba as the center of his covenant and the authorized autho-rized interpreter of his word. ABDU'L-BAHA established estab-lished Nov. 26 as the Day of the Covenant during his visit to the U.S. in 1912. |
