Show Farmington Council AeHon By KATHRYN JENNINGS The Farmington City Council Coun-cil met Mar. 3 with Mayor Merrill Petty and councilmen Ungerman, Flood, Bain and Peterson present. MARK A. FERRIN received to oath of office from M.P. Leonard, justice of the peace, as the new city attorney. Councilman Bain reported on the planning commission meeting. The site plan for a new sandwich shop owned by Larry Wood, to be located adjoining ad-joining the Bowman Market was approved. LAGOON representatives Gary Peterson, Clark Robinson Robin-son and Peter Freed came to review the policing policy between be-tween Farmington city and the Lagoon Corp. New Lagoon policing policies poli-cies of procedures were presented pre-sented by Val Morton. The policies had been reviewed by Lagoon security and management manage-ment and Mr. Peterson, Mr. Robinson and Mr. Freed all spoke favorably of having good cooperation in carrying out the law enforcement at Lagoon La-goon this year. THE COUNCIL requested Mr. Morton to patrol the Somerset area. Randy Kirton was present to represent the Farmington Hills subdividison. The council coun-cil approved the request to vacate va-cate a portion of 950 North St. , Ordinance 82-3. The request for final approvement on the Farrhington Hills subdividison amended plot was also approved. MAX FORBUSH, city manager, man-ager, reviewed special improvement im-provement district assessment concerns and Attorney Ferrin was instructed to check on de linquent payments. Mr. Ferrin reported on several legal matters mat-ters pertaining to the city and Mr. Leonard reviewed problems prob-lems of the pressurized irrigation irriga-tion district. Mr. Forbush reviewed another draft copy of a new administrative code which is in the process of development. The code is being rewritten to more clearly define choice of command and to clearly describe de-scribe the inter working relationship re-lationship between the mayor, council and city manager and department heads of the city. The mayor and council were in full agreement with the contact of the code. It will be presented pre-sented at the next meeting for approval. Mr. Forbush explained ex-plained that adoption of the ordinance was the first stage in the long process of unifying the entire city ordinance closely, a goal objective established by the council earlier. MR. BAIN and Mr. Forbush explained a proposal to change . the Fence Ordinance relating to corner lots. The wording of the ordinance was difficult to understand. It was the concern of the city council to refer the ordinance back to the planning commission to be rewritten. A review of the letter to the county commissioners requesting re-questing the county to resurface resur-face Lund and Glover lanes in south Farmington. The lanes are in bad need of repair because be-cause of chuck holes and road deterioration. Councilman Flood made a motion to approve the letter which the council approved. DONA SCHARP was introduced intro-duced and will receive the oath of office for the city recorder position next city council meeting. It was announced that the , James and Montgomery En-, En-, gineering Firm will be named city engineer. The firm was formerly named Nielsen, Maxwell Max-well and Wansgaard Engineers. En-gineers. Commencing this year, a contract for services will be drawn up for engineer ing, auditing and legal services with the various firms handling these functions. Contracts will be reviewed annually. MAYOR PETTY and several sever-al council members mentioned that many citizens had been well pleased with the snow removal re-moval during the recent winter storms. Mr. Forbush requested that the city purchase a one-ton truck to be used especially for cemetery work. Mayor Petty referred the matter to the capi-.tol capi-.tol improvements committee, .with Mr. Ungerman. Mr. Hughes and Mrs. Forbush. COUNCILMAN Flood questioned spraying of weeds to kill grasshoppers, but nothing no-thing was decided. There was a funding request to assist in sponsoring preliminary pre-liminary Miss America Scholarship Scho-larship Pageant. Mary Petting-ill Petting-ill spoke for the tri-city pageant which will include Kaysville, Fruit Heights and Farmington. Paula Allen also represented the Kaysville Jaycees. Beth Ensign and Susann Jackson were also present in connection connec-tion with the pageant. The girls requested $250 from Farming-ton Farming-ton and the council approved the appropriation of this amount. |
