Show I Vikings - Braves i Rivals Square Oh r By DAVE WIGHAM BOUNTIFUL The way things have been going around the league, this week's matchup match-up with rivals Viewmont and Bountiful on the Vikes home floor could very well decide the championship of the region. re-gion. BOTH ENTER the game with one loss, that is if both won their Tuesday games, and on top of the league standings. Both only need a couple of wins to gain a state berth and both would like to wrap up that invitation. The lone Viking loss came last week when they were knocked from the unbeaten ranks by a good Highland club. Hot shooting by the Rams and a rare off shooting night by the Vikes were the difference in the contest. SENIOR PAUL Hansen summed up the loss for the entire en-tire team. "1 think we were overconfident, thinking if South could beat them we could if. we showed up. It proved to us that we have to play well against everyone in the league to win." The Braves lone loss in league action came on the first meeting between these two in January when the Vikes won by six points. Since then the Braves have won all their games including impressive road wins over West and Highland. High-land. ALTHOUGH both coaches play it down this is the determining deter-mining factor in deciding who gets the key to the city. Both coaches have noted that their players really don't get caught up in the key thing but that the rivalry is the big thing. In the first Vike victory sophomore John White came off the bench to spark his club. He since injured his ankle and has seen limited action but is expected to be ready for the Braves' clash. JUNIOR KYLE Morrell had the hot hand in the Highland game picking up 15 while Rich Downs scored 13 and Paul Hansen 10 in a losing effort. Bountiful's Jim Perkins played his best game at the school, according to his coach, in the win over South as the speedy senior ended the night as JeffBv ' Scott Ramp, -BrudJacom I IT USED. two clubs m; p-wus p-wus the bi.',. those ideash '! member a ye" won a , Points, on : Viewmoniv floor so the ( S tage doesn't', -anymore.
