Show Extradition Of G. A. Burton Delayed FARMINGTON A former for-mer Missouri man wanted in Davis County as a suspect in a 1978 Christmas weekend crime spree may have his extradition ex-tradition delayed if Missouri authorities decide they want to file criminal homicide charges. THE SUSPECT, George Alvin Bruton, 37, of Kansas City, Mo., has been on the FBI's "10 Most Wanted Men" list for several months. He was captured after being shot in the head while attempting to flee law enforcement officers near Fort Smith, Ark., last month. Steven Vanderlinden. assistant assis-tant county attorney, said Bruton Bru-ton is in "pretty bad shape" in a prison hospital in Arkansas and could not be extradicted for some time yet. IF EXTRADICTED, Bruton would face several felony charges in connection with a three-day crime spree in Weber We-ber and Davis Counties which involved shootouts with police, kidnapping and highspeed high-speed chases. Bruton apparently escaped from the crime spree, which began Dec. 22, 1978. in Roy and involyed law enforcement officers from Weber and Davis counties. During the spree, a police helicopter was shot down, families in Clearfield and Layton were held at gunpoint, gun-point, six vehicles were stolen, and three police officers and a civilian were slightly wounded. ANOTHER suspect in the incident, Steven Scott Pan-nell, Pan-nell, 28, of Kansas City, was captured and is serving a five-year five-year to life term in the Utah State Prison after pleading guilty to a first-degree felony charge. Missouri authorities are expected ex-pected to know later this week w hether or not criminal homicide homi-cide charges will be filed in Kansas City where Bruton is a suspect in a murder case, grb |
