Show Horace C. Duffin Succumbs At 79 V ' in ii mh UmmmmM "' HORACE C. DUFFIN Horace Cyril Duffin, 79, died Feb. 2, 19X0 in the Lake- : view Hospital. Born Oct. 30, - - 1900 in White Mountain, Ariz., in the top of the mountains among the tall and beautiful "-pine trees, a place that isjustly - called Fine Top. HEWASthesonofBrigham Fielding Duffin and Harriet !-:Lorine Gardiner, being the fourteenth child of a family of fifteen children. He was the ' first white child born in the "White Mountains Apache Re servation and through curios- ' it y and love for his parents a great number of Indians came " to see this first white child. ; Horace's family moved from Pine Top to Moreless, " Sonora, Old Mexico in 1906. :-.'He went to school there for one year. His family moved back into Arizona, then to Pro-vo, Pro-vo, Utah where he attended Brigham Young Academy. After Af-ter attending Salt Lake Business Busi-ness College and LDS Business Busi-ness College, he started his ow n trucking business in 1928. HORACE MARRIED Zel-ma Zel-ma Wicker in 1923 in the Salt Lake Temple. They have two sons, Robert D. and Horace W., two daughters, Deanna Avis and Helen Olson, and twelve grandchildren. During his lifetime Horace has been an active member of the LDS Church and has held many positions including Sunday Sun-day School superintendent. Slake MIA Board and Seventy Ouorum president. He and Zelma were called to serve in the Northern Indian Mission and since his return has been a temple worker. At the time of his death he was a member of the 21st Ward High Priest Quorum. He was a charter member of the Chamber of Commerce of Bountiful and a life member of the Sons of Utah Pioneers. SURVIVORS: wife of Bountiful; Boun-tiful; children. Robert, Mrs. Kenneth (Deanna) Avis, both ' of Bountiful: Horace W., Helen Olsen. both of Seattle, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; brother. Earl Duffin of Salt Lake City. Funeral services were held Tuesday in the Bountiful 21st LDS Ward Chapel conducted under the direction of Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary. Interment in the Bountiful Memorial Park. |
