The "groundhog saw his shadow, so there will be more ' months of winter" is a statement state-ment often heard 6n Feb. 2. ' This week the residents of West Bountiful were somewhat some-what happy to know that the groundhog did see his shadow on the appointed day, since that means more moisture for the summer months ahead. However, many of them weren't we-ren't happy to have water in their basements. The Pat Matthews and the Wayne Smiths were two of the families fami-lies who had the flood in their basements. They are learning that water problems are fun to solve whether they involve too much water or the lack of it. The Clayton L. Kones are . reporting that they are new grandparents. The Ray Hayes enjoyed entertaining en-tertaining their son-in-law Roger Ro-ger Roundy's folks as they came down from Boise. Ida. Gordon and Francis were interested in-terested in seeing photos of their new grandchild and. of course, of comparing notes on the "cutest" grandchild ever. Charlotte was eager to give her opinion, since she had been in Texas for the week after the birth. The Bill Goldberg's boy of three days of the week. Ben Woodcock of Kaysville. is happy to have a new brother who will be called Michael. He is baby-sat in the home of the Goldbergs for three days each week. He has the fun of playing play-ing with the Goldberg's new baby while in West Bountiful. Now when he goes home, he will have a baby of his own. Sam Allman wears many hats. He is a carpet layer, a city councilman, and teaches Spanish at the Community School in Bountiful. All three of them look enough alike to be sisters. Carolyn Beagley participated partici-pated in the solo-ensemble festival fes-tival at Viewmont High and was chosen to participate in the district meet with a violin solo and in the ensemble group. T.J. Ray is happy to be back in school after her bout with rheumatic fever. We wish her well. Johnny Salmon, young son of John and Myra Lynn Salmon, Sal-mon, had a happy time at his birthday party recently. He and his friends went skating. The Alton Cornias. former long-time residents of West , Bountiful, are in Washington, close to St. George. They are ' helping to take care of Alt's sister who broke her leg when she was on a mission. The Kimball Blackburns are : trying to get accustomed to the ' fact that Launa's parents are on an 18 month mission to Ireland. Ire-land. It seems a long distance away. Cheryl Bangerter was the guest of honor at a shower given by her sisters and sisters-in-law last Saturday evening. It was a kitchen and bathroom shower given at the home of . Cathy Bangerter. The Centerville Regional Conference will be held May I . 1980. There will be a fireside on Feb. 17 for all of the high priests of the Bountiful Utah West Stake and their wives. This will take the place of their annual party. Monies which would have been used for the party will go to the missionaries. mis-sionaries. May will be a busy month for the residents of the stake. Seminary graduation will be May 18: the Seminary Seniors Banquet on May 9: Stake Con- ference on May 24. We are sorry to learn that Bob Freestone has been hospitalized hos-pitalized in the LDS Hospital. He had a bad reaction to some dye and had a heart attack. He has been in intensive care. Michelle Dennis. Lorna Jes-sen Jes-sen and other ninth graders from Centerville Jr. visited at Viewmont Friday night to learn about the band program. They are beginning orientation for next year. A six-year program prog-ram is being implemented where the students in grades seven to twelve are having career development studies and career orientation. The Sixth graders at West Bountiful Elementary School had their night on Jan. 31. : They presented a fifteen mi-nute mi-nute program and science fairs in their rooms. On Feb. 5. parent-teacher conferences were held at West Bountiful Elementary School. The past week the high school, jr. high and grade school students stu-dents all received their grades for the term. |
