Show Enrollment AtWSC Hit All Time High Winter quarter enrollment at Weber State College has reached a record high of 8,998 students in both day and even-ing even-ing classes, Milton C. Mecham, dean of admissions and records, said today. A YEAR ago at the comparable compara-ble date. 8,205 students were enrolled in both day and evening even-ing classes, a record winter quarter, enrollment to that date. ' " Dean Mecham said the 8,998 students. do not include off-campus off-campus students in a variety of classes and seminars. ADDING THOSE students to the day-evening total would bring the winter quarter enrollment enroll-ment to approximately 10.000 students. The figures are those furnished fur-nished to the office of the state commissioner of higher education educa-tion at the end of the third week of school. IN TERMS of percentages, Dean Mecham said the winter quarter enrollment shows a 9.67 percent gain on the basis of head count, or actual num- ber of students signed. In terms of full time equivalencies, equivalen-cies, it means an 1 1 .68 percent increase. Dean Mecham said the hike in full-time equivalencies over the actual head count indicates that students are registering for more credit hours, which he called a healthy trend. FULL-TIME equivalencies come from the total number of quarter hours registered for, divided by 15 quarter hours, considered an average student load. Dean Mecham said the winter win-ter quarter saw a good enrollment enroll-ment in the block and accelerated acceler-ated classes scheduled during the afternoons. All such classes clas-ses listed got sufficient enrollments enroll-ments to continue. |
