Show Jensen Vera Snow I Phone 789-0628 I Alice Snow celebrates 83rd birthday A birthday dinner honoring Alice Snow on her 83rd birthday was enjoyed at the home of her son, the Meril Snows, Sunday, Oct. 11. Others helping her celebrate were Newell, her husband; Jennie and DeWayne Merriam of Meeker, her daughter and husband; the Larry Snows and daughter of Jensen and Larry's sister, Diana Flemming of Daysville, Oregon; and Mrs. Bert Flemming of California. Larry and Diane are the sons and daughter of the late Orin Snow. The Flemmings are spending a few days at the Newell Snows. Mike and Candy Bird of Tremonton were overnight guests of the Dale Snows. Candy and Kathy are friends from school days. Kirt Slaugh, six-year-old son of the Wade Slaughs, was an overnight patient at the hospital in Vernal Thursday. On Friday his doctor recommended that Kirt be taken to an eye specialist in Murray. The severe eye infection is being treated with antibiotics. He is improving. A birthday dinner and party honoring Blake Peterson was held Oct. 8. All of his children and grandchildren except Mr. and Mrs. Randy (Shelly) Sidebolton, helped celebrate. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Ron Walker, Karine and Troy; Mr. and Mrs. Arlen Peterson, Treisa and Chet; Marie Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Peterson, Jared, Rhett and Clint and Blanche Wilkins. Ora Curfew, who is still in the Holy Cross Hospital, called her brother Blake Peterson, to wish him birthday greetings. Jim and Faith Goud and son are new residents of Jensen. They purchased property just east of the John Rasmussens, up Brush Creek, moved their mobile home from Salt Lake City, and plan to make this their permanent home. Troy Walker of Vernal spent the UEA vacation with his grandparents, the Blake Petersons. Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Pearce and small son Curtis of Salt Lake City now live in their mobile home just north of the Dee Curfews. Mr. Pearce is an electrician at the Bonanaza plant. Mrs. Vaughn .(Velma) Wilkins has been a patient at the hospital in Vernal for a number of days, suffering with blood clots in the leg that has been in a cast all summer. A "stork" shower for Kathy Jo (Powell) Quinto was held at the Kelly Powell residence Wednesday evening. A large crowd of friends and relatives, including her mother-in-law Mrs. Quinto were in attendance. Mike Stewart, a BLM seasonal employee stationed near Rawlins, Wyo., spent the holiday weekend at the home of the Ross Snows, his aunt and uncle. Mr. and Mrs. Victor Wilkins, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Hall were visitors in Jensen Sunday and were in attendance at church when Jennifer, the infant daughter of Scot and Cindy Hall, was blessed. Visitors of the Fran Petersons were Lori and two children, Ann and Tim and baby, Eugene Woody, and Fritz Begay. After attending church they enjoyed a birthday dinner honoring Michael Peterson. Jeremy Snow celebrated his 7th birthday Oct. 9 with his family and grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Kelly Powell accompanied ac-companied by Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Slaugh motored to Rexburg, Idaho to visit Shelly Powell who is attending Ricks College. Mr. and Mrs. Alan Gardner of Mendon (near Logan) were weekend guests at the Gawain Snow home. They are Addie's parents. Doug and Caroline Cramer and two small daughters, formerly of Ontario, Calif., now residing in Vernal, were visitors at the Ross Snows Sunday afternoon. The Jensen Ward LDS Chapel will soon be ready for redecoration. The carpet layer Bill Wheeler and helpers, the painters and the cleaning crews are all working over time expecting the inspector this Friday, Oct. 16. The heavy rains of this last week may be hampering the harvesting of the third cutting of hay, but they have also kept jack frost from settling. Not too many autumns can even "old timers" recall gathering tomatoes, cucumbers and water melons from un-frosted un-frosted vines, or picking roasting ears from nice green corn stalks on the 12th day of October, but it has been done in numorious gardens this year. Calllomon have been hampered in hauling their cattle off Diamond Mountain by the heavy rains, and now (hey have snow to contend with also. |
