Show Jeep Patrol Makes Excursion In Escalante Valley Cedar City Jeep Patrol made an excursion to the Escalante Valley Saturday afternoon to investigate in-vestigate an object which was discovered during the recent deer hunt. The object turned out to be a 275 gallon auxiliary wing tank from an F-100 fighter plane. It was located approximately four miles north of Beryl ,and the Patrol Pa-trol was led to the object by Hal Tucker and Ralph Smith of Beryl. A first impression of the object was that it might be a bomb or some sort of missile. The tank had hit the ground and was somewhat burried with Just the tail end, with a fin arrangement, exposed and other debris from the unit strewn on top of the ground. Actual Identification was not made until an ID plate was located. lo-cated. Used as a training mission, four units of the Iron County Jeep Patrol and 12 members made the trip Saturday after-noon. |
