Show Cancer Society Conducts Crusade gatherings of any kind that would like to have the use of these films, please contact Janet Nakken, 586-6863. She will be glad to make arrangements for the films and have them to you within a few days. During the month of April, The American Cancer Society conducts its crusade. In addition to canvassing for contributions in the local area, education in the field of good health habits and detecting cancer symptoms is an important part of the Cancer Crusade. For instance, as a gift from the American Cancer Society, health units were ' presented to each of the elementary schools in the Cedar Area. "An Early Start ot Good Health" is for children Kindergarten to third grade and "TV Networks" Net-works" is the name given to the unit for fourth to sixth grades. These units are designed through filmstrips, posters, games and pictures to educate the children in the importance of keeping their bodies healthy through good eating habits. Alsp the detriments of smoking are presented along with the importance of a good self image for the child. When a child has a good feeling about himself and develops a good self image, he is more apt to develop good health habits because he cares about himself. There are a number of excellent movies available on different aspects of cancer such as self-breast examination, smoking and how to detect cancer in various a areas of the body.
