Show Progress Made in fight for CPN system by Federation Condemnation papers for CP-National's CP-National's electric utility system in southern Utah have been filed by attorney George Fadel representing the Southwest Utah Co-operative Power Federation and the Southwest Power Agency. Carl Palmer, chairman of the federation, reported that only two communities had adopted a "wait and see" attitude towards beginning condemnation and that the move has the "overwhelming support to proceed" of the other member communities in southern Utah. "Everyone is very enc ouraged that condemnation will be the fastest and most timely method to secure the CPN system on a cost justifiable basis while preventing UP&L and government govern-ment regulatory agencies from intervening," in-tervening," said Palmer. The agency had been negotiating to purchase CPN's system when a letter of intent was announced last Dec. by UP&L to purchase the system although a a hearing on the proposed purchase has not yet been scheduled before the Public Service Commission. Com-mission. Cedar City held a straw poll vote in Feb. in which the majority of residents favored a municipally owned and operated system. A joint federation-agency meeting will be held Tuesday, April 29th at 7 p.m. in the Cedar City offices located at West Center St. Fadel will be present to review progress in the condemnation proceedings and plans for the organization's second birthday meeting on May 12 will be decided.
