Show Personal Fire Wood Permits Available Personal free-use fuelwood permits will again be available begining May 1 for the removal of dead and down material from the Cedar City Ranger District according to Ranger Rollo H. Branson. Due to the demand for personal free-use, free-use, commercial fuelwood permits will not be issued on the Cedar City District this year. The personal free-use permits will authorize the removal of a maximum of 8 cords per family. It is illegal to sell, or exchange any wood acquired under a free-use free-use permit. The permit is restricted to the removal of dead and down material; the cutting of standing trees, dead or alive, is prohibited. The entire District will be open to fuelwood gathering, except for the area around campgrounds and those areas that are involved in contractual timber activities. ac-tivities. The closed areas will be shown on a map which will be issued with the permit. The closed timber ' activity areas will also be posted on the ground. Logging slash has been left on recently closed timber sales. These areas will be shown on the map and fuelwood harvesters will be encouraged to use this material. - Permits may be acquired at the District Office located in the Federal Building, 82 North 100 East in Cedar City, Monday thru Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Between June 15 and September 13, permits may also be acquired at the Duck Creek Field Station throughout the week.
