Truman Scholarship Foundation which has been established, by Congress, as a living memorial to the 33rd president of the United States to honor students with long range career interests in government service. One scholarship is awarded each year to a resident nominee in each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and considered as a single entity, Guam, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands. Awarded to college semifinalist in January and appeared in February before a regional review panel in Denver. The Sterling Scholar in Speech and Drama graduated from Orem High School in 1978 where he was a member of the National Honor Society, the Orem High Legislative Council and served as president of the National Forensics League.
