J) VANCE PACXARDitu One of America's foremost social critics will initiate the Grace Adams Tanner lecture lec-ture series on the Southern Utah State College campus on Thursday, May 8 at 8 p.m. in the Music Recital Hall. Vance Packard is noted for his perceptive books many of which have been best sellers. His eighth and latest book "The People Shapers" has been highly priased and singled out as an important in-depth study of the revolutionary developments in psychology and 1 behavioral patterns today. ' .... f -",'; --" .- His first boot published in 1957, "The Hidden Persuaders" Per-suaders" was followed by others including the familiar titles of "The Status Seeker", "The Waste Makers," "The Pyramid Climbers", "The Naked Society", "The Sexual Wilderness" and "A Nation of Strangers". Topics in his writings have ranged from "persuasion in depth" advertising to the accelerated movement of Americans in modern society. A native of Pennsylvania, Packard holds a master's degree from Columbia University's Graduate universities in international economics and holds Distinguished Alumni Awards from Columbia University and Penn State University. He currently resides in Connecticut with his family where he continues his work, The lecture series has been organized by Dr. Eugene Woolf of SUSC's English Department. Woolf chairs the lecture series committee. |
