Show Vernal woman charged with murder attempt A Vernal woman has been charged with the attempted murder of her three children in an incident early Tuesday morning, reported Vernal City Police. At 5 a.m. Tuesday, Officers Dave Free and Robert Vanderbusse responded to a call from a concerned neighbor about a disturbance at 273 Allen Drive. After an investigation of the disturbance, Ella Rae Crellin, 34, Vernal, was charged with attempted murder of her children ages 10, 2 and 6 months. "Our sources indicated the mother attempted to drown the children, but was stopped by the action of her ten-year-old," said Robert T. Downard, Vernal City Police Chief. The children have been put under protective custody by Vernal police and the arrestee has been referred to mental health services, Downard said. Investigation is continuing into the case by Vernal City investigation services. |
