Show Nursing home fund receives check Uintah County received a $2,049 check Monday to be used to buy furnishings fur-nishings for the new nursing home facility. John Schwisow, operations manager at Ashton's presented the check as the profits from a benefit dance held at Ashton's Square recently. Ashton's along with the cooperation of KVEL sponsored the benefit dance along with the Farah bucking bull promotion. In reporting on the progress on the new county nursing home the commissioners com-missioners stated they were concerned about the reluctancy of the state Health Advisory Board in questioning the application ap-plication for a Certificate of Need for the facility. The county applied for a 60-bed care center, but because of the overabundance overabun-dance of centers in other areas of the state and the closing of a home in Price state officials have suggested that the county only apply for a 30 or 40 bed facility in Vernal. Commissioners explained that the land has been purchased and the architect ar-chitect firm of Ehlers & Ehlers has been authorized to complete the plans for a 60-bed facility as soon as possible so construction can start in a month or two. Now there is a possibility the construction will be delayed until issues can be ironed out among state and county officials over issuance of a Certificate of Need. Money for the project expected to cost over $1.5 million has been made available by the sale of the county hospital to Hospital Corporation of America. |
