' ' '' , ' - -' : ". -jh ROAD MAKER FAILS This earthmover belonging belong-ing to M. C. Green Costruction was assigned to start roughing out new roads in the new Painted Hills Estate housing project. Only one problem was encountered, a new bridge must be built before the heavy equipment can cross the Highline canal on the county road. The developer has agreed to build a bridge as well as provide the improved road into what is known by oldtimers as the Coal Mine Basin. hoysSrag projectf si carts Work started up w ith a bang last week on the Painted Hills Kstate community housing project four miles north of Vernal in the approach to the Coal Mine Basin area The bang was caused by a huge earthmover crashing through a county bridge over the Highline canal about one-fourth mile away from the new development. According to Kay I.abrum of Realty World La brum, developers of the huge project, M. C. Green Construction of Bountiful and Towack. Inc. have lioen contracted to build the roads for the new development. The earthmover w as brought in to start on the roadwork that is scheduled to be finished in two or three weeks. An 8-inch water line was also started into the Painted Hills area last week by Four Winds Construction Company, Salt Lake City. This contractor will also build the sewer line to serve the area, to U- finished in three weeks, stated Mrs. I.abrum. Painted Hills Estate is the largest single undertaking to be built in the area. It is the first project where all the paved roads, streets, bridges, water and sewer lines and curb and gutters will be provided for the developer, explained Mrs. Iibrum. The initial project contains 930 units covering 227 acres of land. The project will be built in units of 100 at a time. Five lots have already been sold and the first homes are scheduled to be completed by Oct. 15. Sunwood Homes and another unnamed company, both from Salt Lake City, have been contracted con-tracted to build the homes. Harpers and Jones. Provo. has the curb and gutter contract The Denver office of the Housing and Urban Development is publishing a notice of intent to prepare an environmental en-vironmental impact statement of the project. All interested parties are invited in-vited to make comments on the environmental en-vironmental impact of the Painted Hills Estate master plan by contact HUD before Sept. 5. The publication of the draft EIS on the master plan, according to HUD is April 2. 1932. According to Mrs. Labrum, Painted Hills Estate will include a commercial shopping area and direct paved roads. The area offers an overall view of Ashley Valley and it derives its name from the colorfull hills in the area. "We will develop this area just as fast as the demand dictates," Mrs. Labrum indicated. |
