Show Vernal couple die in accident near Roosevelt A Vernal man and his wife were killed Tuesday of last week at 4:45 p.m. when their car was struck by a semitrailer three miles west of Roosevelt. Grover Lewis Dye, 61, and Grace Woodward Dye, 59, were killed when they slowed to make a left turn from U.S. 40 into a gas station and a semitrailer driven by June Dee Curfew, Cur-few, 65, of Jensen, struck the victim's car knocking it into the oncoming traffic lane. The Dye vehicle was then struck by a California car driven by Paul Vaughn Emrick, 63, of Los Alamitos, Calif. Paul Emrick and his wife, Vera Jean, 61, were transported to the Duchesne County Hospital where MT. Emrick was treated for a lacerated knee and head injuries. Mrs. Emrick suffered broken ribs and other internal injuries. The Dye vehicle landed on its top. Mrs. Dye was dead at the scene and her . husband died shortly after arrival at the Duchesne County Hospital in Roosevelt. An investigation is pending into the accident, but Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Gary Cutler rules out ex- -cessive speed as a factor in the accident. ac-cident. The semi left 330 feet of skid marks. The speed of both the truck and the Emrick vehicle was estimated at 50 miles per hour. |
