School lunches may be paid in advance, and will be 75 cents a day. Extra milk to go with sack lunches will be 15 cents each. Mr. Gotfredson, principal, has asked that those who have kindergarten students are to bring a birth certificate and immunization record with them to registration, if they have not aone so previously. The Ashley PTA officers have been making plans for helping the teachers and students this coming year. They accomplished many worthwhile projects last year, and they are excited and looking forward to another great school year. The PTA will be assisting the parents at registration and they encourage each parent to join PTA and volunteer in some way to assist in bettering the education of our children. Any people who do not have children in school, grandparents, people who live alone, etc. are also encouraged to volunteer in helping at school or projects at home. As the parents, the teachers, the community, and the school work together,, we create a better environment for everyone. Because of increased costs the PTA membership dues will be increased to $1.75 this year, but these funds are used for many things to help the school and the children. Did you know that this organization that has been around for 84 years has helped bring about many changes in the school systems? Just to name a few, the PTA helped bring about the following programs: physical education, kindergarten, kin-dergarten, school lunch program, home economics, TV project to combat violence and many others. The Ashley Elementary Back-to-School night and Harvest Festival is planned for Sept. 16 to help us get acquainted for the new year. Mrs. Helen McKeachnie, school secretary |
