Show RULON STANFIELD District Governor visited Vernal Rulon Stanfield, Utah District Governor of Rotary International, visited Vernal Wednesday and Thursday Thur-sday of last week. The District Governor and his wife met with the members of the Vernal Rotary Club executive committee and their wives Wednesday night. Also Wednesday evening Stanfield met with the Board of Directors and committee chairmen. Thursday he addressed the luncheon meeting of the Vernal club. In the meetings he urged the club members to continue participating in community and international services. Mr. Stanfieldwas born in Gannett, Idaho, he graduated from Gannett High School and married his high school sweetheart, Ruby Elvira Byington. He attended Idaho State Teachers College and the University of Idaho. He was an official in basketball, football and baseball in both Utah and Idaho. He Is presently an observer for the Big Sky Athletic Conference in football and basketball. Stanfield taught school and coached athletics in Idaho before moving to Ogden in 1941 to represent the Burroughs Adding Machine Company. He later became chief of payroll and accounting at Hill Air Force Base during WWII. After the war he operated his own business in accounting ac-counting systems and sales in Ogden & Salt Lake City. In 1960 he was made director of the Ogden Area United Fund In 1973 he became general sales manager for the Balance Security Corporation of Salt Lake City. After overcoming a heart attack in 1977 he semi-retired and is presently acting as a consultant with Balance Security and Sales Association. Stanfield became a Rotarian in 1963 and as an Ogden Rotarian was instrumental in-strumental in getting the first state park in Ogden. He has worked in various club projects and is still very active in the club. |
