Williams asked the county commission to consider purchasing a two-acre site near the proposed hospital in Layton. Plans to purchase a church in Farmington to accommodate accom-modate an alcohol treatment center were abandoned earlier this year because of neighborhood opposition. Converting existing buildings build-ings into treatment centers is more economical but has met with opposition in various places throughout the county, not only with alcohol treatment, treat-ment, but other agencies. DR. WILLIAMS suggested that the county consider selling two acres of land located near the south gate of Hill Air Force Base. He proposed that the money generated could go toward purchase of the other site. Commissioner C.E. Moss suggested that the property may be useful to keep for future fu-ture county needs. Realtors have given a variance of opinion of what it is worth. THE COMMISSION suggested sug-gested that Dr. Williams have a "for sale" sign put on it to determine the interest. Dr. Williams said he had considered architects for the proposed construction and was in favor of Richard Sharpe, who was involved in plans of the Humana, Inc. Hospital in Layton. COMMISSIONER Stanley Smoot asked if there had been sufficient interviews in ' choosing an architect. The selection was delayed until the next commission meeting. |
