Show Suggestions On Planting Garden What vegetables can I plant now, is the questions often asked, says Melvin S. Bur-ningham, Bur-ningham, USU Area Horticulturist. Horticul-turist. THERE ARE quite a few vegetables that have been planted and are up already. A month ago when the soil was dry enough to work, quite a few people planted peas, radishes, lettuce, spinach, onions and turnips. You need not worry because they will take some frost. If you haven't planted the above vegtables and you intend to, you should get them planted just as soon as the soil can be worked. Carrots, beets, chard, parsnips and potatoes can be planted now if the soil is not too wet. IT IS always nice to have some asparagus and rhubarb in the vegetable, flower or shrubbery garden. You may want to consider planting some. It takes about 50 asparagus as-paragus plants for a family of five. Four rhubarb plants per person is plenty. |
