T p p p cf D p Your Davis County Commissioners yvant nLiLrviL yOU to know a few facts about: LEGISLATION & TAXATION Just how did this come to be? YOUR state legislature funded the LAW in 1969. It had been on the books since 1 953. The purpose of the LAW was to bring equality in assessed valuation. The State ? Legislature DID send out STATE TAX APPRAISERS to every parcel of land in the state and 1 9 counties have been revalued. THE REASSESSMENT IS DONE IN DAVIS COUNTY! Property in Davis County has been assessed at 20 of its FAIR MARKET VALUE. The LAW provides that as a result of a general reappraisal the MILL LEVY for the next calendar year must be reduced reduc-ed so that the revenue collected from property tax would not exceed a 6 increase over the preceeding year. OVERALL This means that the MILL LEVY must DROP which is good news for the taxpayer. How is this reassessment going to affect YOU a Davis County taxpayer? If your property has been UNDERASSESSED, you will pay more which will be YOUR FAIR SHARE. Others will pay LESS-which will be THEIR FAIR SHARE. I WHY THE REVALUATION Revaluation is to bring Fairness and Equality in Taxation! As a taxpayer in Davis County, if I think my property prop-erty valuation is too high, do I have RECOURSE? (Chance to appeal.) YES! There is a 5 DAY period when appeals will be heard. HERE ARE THE DATES IMMC 2 4- 6 1 O 1 2 please make note of them J w I fa "T , VSj Wj I - The county board of EQUALIZATION will meet on these days between the hours of 10 A.M. AND 4 P.M. BRING YOUR VALUATION NOTICES. The test of a fair valuation is to 5X (FIVE TIMES) your assessed assess-ed value, and if you would be willing to sell your property for that price, We should hear from you! Sincerely, C. E.
