Show Ccntcrjillc Residents: A Poor Channel Centerville City Council (under the direction of acting Mayor Dean Layton) voted unanimously to accept the ' Western Fence Co. bid to install ins-tall a new backstop at the city park. Moneys for construction will be. taken from Revenue Sharing Funds. THE COUNCIL also voted to call for bids for a new police car. Funds for the purchase will be included in the budget for the fiscal year 1975-76. Mr. Layton read a letter from the State Tax Commission Commis-sion to Davis County, indicating indicat-ing the fact that the of 1 percent sales tax seems to be necessary; otherwise, the present 2 of 1 percent tax will not be forthcoming. COUNCILMAN Bob Ar-buckle Ar-buckle reported that the petition peti-tion letters for the proposed improvement district for the for the property west of 1-15, are being circulated. Councilman Tom Williams registered his concern over the drainage in the ditches west of the D. & R.G. Tracks. He said that they need dredging. dredg-ing. He informed the council that the ditches are partly in the county and that the city and the county should work together to correct the problems. CITIZENS FROM Casa Loma Subdivision approached the council to express their concern about the drainage channel through their development. They informed the council that the channel was poorly constructed and poorly engineered. They have water in their yards, in their driveways, and on their sidewalks. Scouts Brad Jensen and - -? COUNCILWOMAN Margaret Mar-garet Wright read a letter from Senator Moss congratulating congra-tulating the city on their application to use the Bicentennial Bicen-tennial Stamp during the month's leading to July 4, 1976. Mrs. Wright again informed in-formed the council that it is necessary to find another chairman of the Bicentennial Committee. Copies of the recreation schedule for the summer were distributed to the council members. COUNCILMAN Williams reported that he and his neighbor had sold pieces of land to the owners of Pinae Nursery, so that they might expand their operations as they desire to do. am |
