A slight wish for warmer weather escapes everyone's lips, as the middle Z of May approaches. " ' Happy parents this week are Mr. and Mrs. Richard Mattes. A son was born last . Tuesday in a Salt Lake City hospital. This is their fourth child, two boys and two girls. The Mattes family resides on 1900 S. in Briarwood Subdivision. Sub-division. Mrs. Mona Haacke was admitted ad-mitted to St. Mark's Hospital on Tuesday, in preparation of surgery performed on Wednesday Wed-nesday morning. Also undergoing surgery this week was LeRoy Lund. He entered LDS Hospital on Wednesday in preparation for bone surgery on Thursday. Mr. Lund is the father of Mrs'. Geo Moss and Mrs. Margaret Stanley. Students at South Bountiful School enjoyed a visit from Trooper Stan Shelby of the Utah Highway Patrol, who presented a special film and lecture on the responsibilities and care of bike riders and their vehicles, sponsored by the South Bountiful PTA. Family and friends of Paul Earnshaw were at the airport on Wednesday of the past week to bid him farewell as he departed for Brisbane, Australia and an LDS mission in the country. Moments to Treasure, a concert presented by the Chansonettes of Rigby, Ida. at Bountiful-Woods Cross Stake Center was the cultural highlight high-light of the week. The concert was a benefit, with funds to help with the rebuilding of the Second-Sixth Ward Chapel. The audience for the event was small but very receptive to the beautiful harmony and excellent taste of the group. Those who remained at home missed the musical highlight of the season. Get well wishes are extended extend-ed to Mrs. Norma Grandy, who has been at South Davis Hospital recovering from major surgery. Gordon Ballard, Caiman Hart, Ron Jensen and Bob Lund are all members of the Woods Cross Tennis Team who will compete in Region II Play-offs at Weber State College in Ogden. Saturday, weather permitting, permit-ting, will be the baseball kick-off for the South Davis Baseball league. Little League, Bronco and Pony teams will be competing in their first games of the season. Plan to attend, at city park. Another event of the week is the Woods Cross High School Madrigal Concert, scheduled for May 14 at 7 p.m. Glen Ballard is in Missoula, Mont, this week, participating in the Big Sky Conference Invitational In-vitational Tennis Meet as a member of the Weber College squad. Mrs. Pauline Low returned home after enjoying a week visiting in Sacramento, Calif, with her sister and family. Returning to the Low household are Chris and Paula, who have been attending attend-ing Brigham Young Univer- sity this past year. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cox and four children, have moved from the area. They have been transferred to Pocatello, Ida. The Cox family resided on 1400 South in the Kenneth Winegar home. Mrs. Nina Moss, accompanied accom-panied by Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Crowther and family, were in Ogden on Sunday for the naming and blessing of David Boyce, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Boyce; grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Doren Boyce and great-grandson of Mrs. Moss. South Bountiful PTA has a new slate of officers. Heading the group for the coming year is Mrs. Sue Howard, president; Mrs. Cheryl Peters, president elect; Noel J. Williams, 2nd vice president; Mrs. Morrow, teacher representative, 3rd vice president; Helen Saltz-giver, Saltz-giver, secretary; Rae Black-bum, Black-bum, treasurer. The new officers spent Friday and Saturday in Provo attending the State PTA convention. con-vention. Outgoing President is Mrs. Ron Van Ry. Sincere sympathy is ex-I ex-I tended to Gordon Boulton. His , father, James R. Boulton passed away following a lingering lin-gering illness. Funeral services ser-vices were conducted on Wednesday of the past week in the Val Verda Stake Center, with burial in the Bountiful Memorial Park. Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Ruflin recently were Mr. and Mrs. Larry Nelson of San Diego, Calif. The travelers also visited with their son and his wife and baby, Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Nelson in Idaho Falls, before returning home. Congratulations to Tyler Steinbach who has been outstanding out-standing on the mound for the Viewmont baseball team again this season. Tyler began his baseball career with little league programs in the area, and has continued through his high school career. Tyler is a senior at Viewmont. Mrs. Karen Van Uitert and Mrs. Bonnie Peterson, den mothers for pack 232, were hostesses for a supper for their cub scouts on Wednesday Wednes-day evening prior to their efforts ef-forts to clean-up the South Bountiful 3-4 Ward parking lot and grounds areas as part of their service project for the month. The Cubs have participated in a special Pack Meeting where Bountitul Policemen showed a film concerning shoplifting, then toured the Bountiful Police Station as another project. Lethia Ellis and Jonie Frost returned home after completing complet-ing their freshman year at Brigham Young. Lethia is the daughter of Orson and June Ellis. Joni is the daughter of the Gene Frosts. Visiting at the Rex Kerr home this past week was Mrs. Kerr's sister, Mrs. Erma Crawford of Millbrae, Calif. The Band and Choral Concert Con-cert will be held May 22 at Woods Cross High School. |
