Show The Woods Cross City Council met on Tuesday at City Hall for their regular council meeting, with Mayor LeRoy Parkin presiding. Main items of interest were the discussion of budget reports and the proposed fiscal fis-cal budget for '75-76. CITY RECORDER Alan Low prepared individual budget bud-get reports for departmental spending, which was reviewed by the council. Mr. Low has made a similar report every two months, for a better review of spending in conjunction with budget standards, stan-dards, aiding departments with expenditures of funds. The proposed budget is being be-ing prepared by departmental heads for a review of expected needs and revenue at the next Council meeting. ALSO DISCUSSED was local use of the Davis County Fire Department and Ambulance Am-bulance service. Woods Cross citizens called for assistance with fires 47 times during the past year. Although individual in-dividual city use was not compiled for ambulance service, ser-vice, the need in the South Davis area is at least twice each day for emergency service. ser-vice. Continued assistance with a survey for Highway 91 was asked for by the council, who will contact the State Highway High-way Department for this service. ser-vice. HEAVY TRAFFIC and left hand turns have presented many traffic problems in the 2400-2600 South areas, and a review of islands, left and right hand lane specifications are special needs in that area. The council asked that the survey be taken on a busy weekend, rather than in the middle of the week as is the usual case. The possibility of flooding with the spring run-off was again discussed, with a look . at storm sewer drains to be completed this week. Sandbagging Sand-bagging was also discussed for the 500 S. area where the normal run-off is heavy in early spring. THE COUNCIL approved assisting with repair of railroad approaches on 2600 S. and 1500 S. The work is being completed in conjunction with the Federal Highway Department Depart-ment who will begin repairs as quickly as the weather permits. And speaking of weather, the council decided to postpone post-pone next year's annual spring clean-up campaign until early May. It seems that weather is the biggest factor, and rarely can this project be completed during April because of the heavenly elements. AND BECAUSE of the above normal rain fall, the watering machine obtained for an experimental demonstration demon-stration on the new park has not been put to use, but hopefully, this weekend the pipe can be installed for that purpose. A report of construction on the new reservior was presented to the council by Charles Payne. The excavation excava-tion has been completed, floor and walls poured, and prepared for the lid construction con-struction is nearly complete. The work has proceeded ahead of schedule, far in advance ad-vance of the original 90 day completion date. THE HISTORICAL cabin located on church property, and owned by Camp Eutaw, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers was discussed. A request was submitted to the council by members of the stake presidency, for approval to move the cabin onto the city park. Inasmuch as the cabin is not the property of either the church or the city, it was decided to contact ,h before anv surh . lhe r-be r-be reviewed ChprWj: CONSTRUCTION new church on 15m c 01 fc W. is beine DllT I' i. east endSffeS recently pmJ Legislature concern ?!1 tax increases. andfc 1 ston of zone reZ' possibility oflaS': Property in the i : ton east of the aX ' cordiaHyLite? |
