GIRLS STATE is the mythical 51st State. It is an effort to bring the girls a knowledge of the fundamental principles of American Government through actual practice and control of the state offices during Girls State. As future voters and office holders the girls learn of the problems of elected officials, their duties and functions. Each girl has a choice to learn for herself that government govern-ment is just what she makes it. blnf |
