Joyce began taking art classes when the center opened in October and as her enthusiasm grew she convinced her sister, Zella Price, to commute from Zella Price and her sister Joyce Hagloch have taken up painting together in Bountiful, even through Mrs. Price has to drive to class from her home in Montpelier, Ida. Idaho each week to take a painting class with her. Both sisters have always been interested in art and for the first time have the opportunity to pursue their common interest in art together. AFTER living in California for a number of years, Mrs. Price and her husband, Calvin, Cal-vin, returned to Montpelier to . take over the management of the family ranch. In addition to managing the ranch, Mr. Price teaches English and Spanish at Bear Lake High School. Mrs. Price has very little idle time on her hands at the ranch. Although her three children are married, she has one foster child still living at home and will be a grandmother grand-mother for the fourth time. SHE DRIVES tractor for her husband in the winter while he feeds the cattle, and she is employed by the State of Wyoming part-time to gather water for testing of pollution levels. She saved the wages from her job to pay for her classes and travel expenses in commuting com-muting the 160 miles to Bountiful each week. She has also taught art mini-classes at her ward in Cokeville in painting with acrylics and oils. ZELLA AND Joyce have enjoyed renewing their relationship rela-tionship and have found they have many of the same interests. They take full ad- ' vantage of each Tuesday, going go-ing shopping, out to lunch, and putting in extra time painting at the center before class begins at 7 p.m. Summer quarter class schedules are now available at the center. In addition to the regular classes in painting, paint-ing, drawing, ceramics, and jewelry-making, a workshop in film making and a class in color photography will be offered. of-fered. FOR SUMMER quarter the youth program has been expanded ex-panded to include a print-making print-making workshop, drawing and painting studio, and a ceramic workshop for youth. Information on these youth classes will be mailed out upon request. In response to many requests, George Dibble will teach a two-day watercolor workshop on May 21 and May 24 at the Bountiful Art Center. The enrollment will be limited limit-ed and reservations for this class will be necessary. Interested persons should call 295-0161 to reserve space in the class. ON MAY 13 photography exhibit will open in the gallery. The show will feature the work of six artists: Duane Powell, John Telford, Calvin Sumsion, Craig Law, Tom Park, and Tom Whitham. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, 9-6 p.m.; Saturday, Sa-turday, 10-6; and Sunday, 1-4 p.m. FRIDAY, May 9 at 7 p.m., the films to be presented at the center are: The Humanities: Humani-ties: What They Are and What They Do and Watercolor Painting, Parts I and II. There is no charge for the art film series and the public is invited. Sir Kenneth Clark's BBC film series, "Civilization," is currently being presented at the Bountiful Art Center on Thursdays from 7-10 p.m. SPECIAL arrangements have been made to open the class to those persons not enrolled who are interested in a particular segment. For a one-time fee, any person may attend the lecture by Peter Atherton, historian of art and architecture at the University of Utah, and two films presented on that particular Thursday. ON THURSDAY, May 15, the last of these lectures will be presented. The lecture will be on "Realism, Impressionism, Impres-sionism, and Post-Impressionism." The films will be: The Fallacies of Hope, and Heroic Materialism. |
