Show 13 Hte Ga9i: 1? ; As the storms outside threatened serious damage to the city, the West Bountiful City Council Tuesday night planned to improve and develop the community. AT THE suggestion of Councilman Eli Mitchell, the council voted unanimously to raise the cost of water meter installation from $200.00 -$250.00. This will help to defray the ever-rising cost of installation. The price change is effective, as of May 6, 1975. Ron Bangerter, developer of Sunnyview Subdivision, approached the council to discuss improvements on 700 W. and Pages Lane Streets. He indicated that he will ' comply with the regulations set forth by the city. MR. BANGERTER asked the council to give permission permis-sion to install all curb and gutter in front of his property on 8th West. He indicated the fact that others on the street are also interested in the project. Citizens on 8th W., who would be interested in availing themselves of similar improvements, are asked to contact Mr. Bangerter, Ban-gerter, since it is impossible to install spot curb and gutter. MR. AND Mrs. Fred Back-strom, Back-strom, of Rolling Homes Mobile Park, attended the meeting to ask for permission to add another mobile home stall. It was the decision of the council to refer the matter to the attorney to advise them of their reponsibilities in a mobile home development. Some citizens of the development have indicated a need for more visitor's parking areas and for a well-developed well-developed recreational area. The council concurred with the needs. MAYOR JERRY Thompson handed out budget forms for the council members. They were told to figure their budgets bud-gets for the fiscal year 1975-76. A special budget hearing will be held in June. All citizens are invited to attend. at-tend. After discussion, the council coun-cil decided unanimously to sign the State ordinance to change the Sales and Use Tax from '2 of 1 percent to of 1 percent. THIS WAS done because they had been informed, by -letter from the State that they must sign the ordinance or receive no tax funds. The council also decided unanimously to sign the agreement allowing the State to continue to collect the Sales and Use Tax. The council again reiterated reiterat-ed their feeling that they are unwilling to support the Mass Transit Authority with liquor funds. They will let the funds remain in the bank. MAYOR Thompson report- " ed that the city is obligated to A help to pay for the new pumper which is to be 1 purchased by the South Davis Fire Department. J MAYOR Thompson an- : nounced the names of the men who will serve on the Board of " Adjustments for the city, i Included are: Streeper Wood, ! Eric Eastman, Larry Beckett, " Leon Riley, and Byron 1 Schulthies. Don Milligan and Dave Pickett approached the coun- cil to ask permission to proceed with development on the Tri D Development (on the former High Peterson property). After discussion, the matter was tabled, until the attorney could be contact- , ed with regards to responsibilities respon-sibilities for improvements. LANCE FOSTER, West . Jordan Police Chief and' member of the Utah Chiefs of Police Association, attended 1 the meeting to explain the results of a survey the association as-sociation had made of the police force in the city. The study included salary scales, good traffic control, vehicles, assistants, job description, , secretaries, record system, and security of records. Discussion continued on the drainage waters which will be sent down to West Bountiful as a result of the developments develop-ments east of Bountiful. The decision was made to contact the city attorney with regards to the responsibilities of those who sent drainage waters down to other cities. THE COUNCIL is desirous of learning the decision, especially es-pecially as a result of their, former experience concerning concern-ing a lawsuit on Stone Creek. A report was made concerning con-cerning the drainage of the land east of the U.P. tracks from 10th North to 1600 North. The City and State Engineer-i Engineer-i .. ing finds will be taken to the railroad, so that final plans for the drainage may be made with the three agencies working in total cooperation. IT WAS also reported that Phillips Petroleum Company is asking for a public hearing to rezone some of the property on 11th West between 4th and 5th S. from agriculture to Ml and Mia. Norman Barber, resident of Pages Lane, was assured that the city will investigate the stream of water which is running into his lot. am |
