Show Bums Available On LM Gontrol If controlling weeds is one of your problems, there may be a new or better way to combat these pests, reports L. Darrell Stokes, county agent. A HANDY source of information infor-mation to help you is the "1975 Checmical Weed Control Guide for Utah." This comprehensive circular is a ready reference, outlining the chemicals or herbicides that are safe and effective in a variety of situations. For crop growers there are sections on weed control in alfalfa, al-falfa, corn, grain crops, pastures, pas-tures, sugar beets, potatoes, vegetable crops and fruit orchards. FOR THOSE concerned with weeds along and in waterways, wa-terways, there is information on water weeds on canals, drains and ponds, also in farm ditches and along the banks of streams. If your problem is weeds along roadways, vacant lots or around buildings, you will find the information you need. A major section of the circular deals with controlling weeds in home lawns and other turf areas. ANYONE using weed chemicals or herbicides needs to know how they work and the necessary precautions to follow in order to avoid damage to crops, trees and other desirable plants. Such information is found in the 1975 Chemical Weed Control Con-trol Guide. Copies are now available at the Utah State University Extension office in Farmington. |
