Show Nathan Allen Takes Oath As School Board Member Duchesne Man Is Board Pres., IVIet On Jan. 5th Nathan D. Allen, Myton rancher, ranch-er, Jan. 5, took oath of office as school board member from District Dis-trict 3, which comprises the precincts pre-cincts of Duchesne No. 2, Bridge-land, Bridge-land, Arcadia, Myton and Harper. The oath was administered by Porter Por-ter L. Merrell, county clerk. Mr. Allen's term of office will be for five years. He succeeds Wm. R. Harris, Myton, who served ten yeans in this office. The Thursday Thurs-day meeting was the first in 1956 for the board. Board Reorganized B. A. Jacoby is president of the' school board for one year, and E. L. Murphy is the new vice-president. vice-president. Theron Leavitt of Roosevelt, Roos-evelt, is retiring board president and Mr. Jacoby was vice-preji-dent. Mr. Leavitt will represent the Duchesne County School District Dis-trict for another year of his two-year two-year term on the Union High School board of Directors and is slated to "become its new president presi-dent at a meeting tonight. Marion A. Harrison was re-ap pointed to represent the Duchesne County School District on the Union Un-ion High School board of directors for a two-year term. Reports On Building At the' Jan. 5 meeting of the Duchesne County Board' of Education, Ed-ucation, Supt. Rowan C. Stutz reported re-ported on the building program in the district. He stated that final plans' and specifications will be ready on Jan. 19 for the board to examine for two Roosevelt school building projects and the one at Tabiona. (Continued from Page 1) A special meeting has been called on this date at 7:30 p.m. at the board office in Duchesne for reviewal of these final plans with the' architects. New Second Grade Teacher Mrs. Burton (Mary). Tew of Talmage Tal-mage is second grade teacher at the Duchesne' Elementary School. Her appointment, made by the Duchesne County Board of Education, Edu-cation, began Jan 3. She replaces Mrs. Ruby McDonald who resigned resign-ed the position because' of health reasons. New Bus Bids Asked The clerk of the Duchesne County School Board has been authorized to call for bids for the purchase of four new bus units to be used during the 1956-57 school term. Bids for this purchase will be opened at the Feb. 9 meeting of the school board. Blanket Type Insurance Supt. Rowan C. Stutz and Clifton Clif-ton C. Mickelson, clerk, we're authorized au-thorized to proceed with providing fire insurance on district buildings through a "blanket" type' policy. This calls for the cancellation of all existing insurance policies. Under the blanket type policy, all school buildings, garages, etc. owned by the district are insured for $1,780,000. Major insurance coverage in the policy is to be for loss by fire. An "extended coverage'" clause is' to be included in the policy, also. This blanket type insurance policy pol-icy cuts premium costs and gives more adequate insurance coverage, according to the board's decision. |
