Show Longhorns Bring Home The Bacon Coach Kenneth Bearden and his Altamont Longhorns returned home victorious Friday night after af-ter a successful campaign against the Duchesne Eagles. Winning this, the first game of the season seemed seem-ed a good omen to the joyous Altamont Al-tamont fans. The first quarter of the game found Altamont trailing Duchesne 10 to 12; but by half time, things were looking up for the Longhorns with the score 2G Altamont, 20 Duchesne. The end of the third quarter showed Altamont Alta-mont well ahead 38 to 28 and the game ended with a spectacular spec-tacular 61 for Altamont to 43 for Duchesne. David Hislop and Grant Drolllnger shone for Altamont each making 18 points'; and Ny-berg Ny-berg contributed 13. High man for Duchesne with 10 points was Mayhew. Referees for the Duchesne and Altamont game were Sorensen and Hintze. Altamont's "B" team also out-did out-did Duchesne's second team with a score of 49 to 25. The' first quarter, Altamont led 22 to 2 and they continued to have it all their way to the end of the game. Labrum and Humphrey's were referees ref-erees for the game of which. Iorg was top hand with 8 points, and Hislop and Tew followed with 7 each. The Altamont "A" team played the Altamont Alumni Saturday, Jan. 6, and lost 47 to 49. GOES TO VERNAL Altamont's basketball team travels trav-els to Uintah High to play Vernal, Friday. Everyone is encouraged to come out and support the team Let's Go To Vernal! |
