Show This Week's RECIPE . . . For parties and entertaining Mrs. D. G. Mantyla suggests you try the following cookie recipies, which are delightful for teas,' receptions re-ceptions or parties. SPRITZ COOKIES (makes 75 to 100). 1 cup butter or margarine' (2 squares) 1 cup powdered sugar 2l2 cups flour 2 egg yolks, beaten Y2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. almond extract Cream butter and add sugar. Add almond extract and egg yolks. Add sifted flour and salt. Place dough in cookie press for different designs. Place on greased cookie sheet 1 inch apart and bake for 10 minutes at 375 degrees until un-til light brown. Let cool and roll in sifted powdered sugar. j Variation Add 1-3 cup cocoa to half of the dough for chocolate cookies, and then ice with colored frosting and top with miniature candies. Add pink or green cake coloring- SUGAR PLUM DROPS' (approximately 100) I 1 cup butter or margarine 1 cup white sugar 1 cup brown sugar 2 eggs beaten 1 tsp vanilla 1 tsp soda 1 tbs. cold water 2 cups cake' flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt 2 cups rolled oats (fine) 1 cup shedded coconut 1 cup colored gumd'rops, cut in small pieces Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs' and vanilla. Add soda dissolved in the tbs. of water. Sift flour, baking powder and salt. Add to mixture. Add remaining ingredients and drop by teaspoon on greased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. Bake approximately 12 minutes in 375 deg. oven. |
