Show Extra Milk For School Kids Approved By Board At the Jan. 5 meeting, the' T)u-chesne T)u-chesne County Board of Education Educa-tion approved the serving of extra ex-tra milk to all xhildren -enrolled in schools in the county. Half-pint cartons will be served to the elementary ele-mentary school age children 'at the morning and afternoon recesses and to the high school students during the afternoon at no cost to the school' pupil or student. This applies to the extra half-pint half-pint served with the mid-day school lunch meal. also. Cost of this extra milk to the school district during the remaining remain-ing 4l2 months of the school, term is estimated to be about $1,200 Supt. Stutz said. This cost will accumulate from the 0 more ra half pint of milk charged by the dairies' here than is reimbursable to the district by the U. S. Department De-partment of Agriculture to finance this program. Supt.. Stutz explained that last year the dairies -.furnished this milk to the schools "for 4 cents a half-pint carton, the amount allowed al-lowed by the U.S.D.A., but this year the school district has been forced to pay the full price to the dairies. Hi-Land and Arden Dairies will deliver this -milk supply sup-ply to the same school to -.which they deliver milk for the school' lunch program. |
