Show Carter Oil Quits :DniHng ! Of Uintah Wildcat The Carter Oil Co. last week announced abandonment as a "dry hole" of one of the most widely advertised wildcats to be' drilled in the Uintah Basin in recent years. The company said its Minton-State Minton-State No, 1 drilled to a record depth (for the Basin) of 12,897 feet had been sunk to the' granite and failed to find any significant encouragement whatsoever. Hill Creek Structure in southeastern south-eastern Uintah County had been billed as the "only surface structure" struc-ture" in the Uintah Basin and was subject of quite a legal tussle between be-tween major companies a few years ago when conflit of leases was at issue. Major holding on the structure are shared by Carter with Phillips Petroleum Co. and Stanolind Oil & Gas Co. |
