The Uintah junior varsi ty team toppled Altamont and Union and the Ute 'varsity team suffered losses to Duchesne and Altamont in the Uintah Tournament. Dale Crowell fired in three field goals. Neldon Seitz scored four points and Mark Gamble put in one field goal to give the Utes a first quarter lead of 12 to 8. Five Ute cagers scored points in the second quarter to increase Uintah's advantage to nine points, 28 to 19. Steve Yadon was the top scorer for the Utes in the second quarter with six points on three field goals. The roof caved in for the Union Cougars as they scored only six points in the third Quarter and Uintah tossed in 22 points. Gary Galley ripped the neis tor nine points in the third quarter on three field goals and three free throws. Blake Ewell put in three points in the third quarter. Union's scoring drought continued in the fourth quarter as they scored only five points and Uintah fired in 20 points to make tne final score, 70 to 30 in iavor of Uintah. Lynn Bigelow and Jerry Allred were the top scorers for Uintah in the fourth quarter with six points each. Eleven Uintah cagers scored points in the championship game. Crowell and Galley were the top scorers for Uintah with 11 points. Crowell put in five field goals and tossed in one free throw, and Galley connected on four field goals and three free throws. Also scoring points were: White, 8; Townsend, 4; Mieure, 4; Nielsen, 3 and Cook, 2. Union put in 6 out of 19 free throws. Uintah toppled Altamont in the first round of the junior varisty tournament by the score of 50 to 28. The scored by quarters was: Uintah, 12 and Altamont, 7, first quarter; Uintah, 25 and Altamont, 14, second quarter; Uintah, 33 and Altamont, 19, third quarter and Uintah, 50 and Altamont, 28, fourth quarter. Union toppled Duchesne in the first round. Nine Uintah Ute cagers fired in points in the game. Yadon scored 12 points on three field goals and six free throws and Crowell and Galley put in ten points on five field goals each. Also scoring points for Uintah were: Seitz, 4; Ewell, 4; Allred, 3; Bigelow, 3; Gamble, 2 and Limb, 2. Uintah put in 19 field goals and hit 12 out of 18 free throws. The Uintah High School junior varsity basketball team had a two-point lead of 36 to 34 after three quarters of action, but the Union Cougars out-scored out-scored the Utes, 25 to 13, to win the game in Roosevelt by the score of 59 to 49, Nov. 26. Union had an eight point lead of 16 to 8 at the end of the first quarter and had a 28 to 10 advantage after two quarters. Also scoring points for Uintah were: Dale Crowell, 10; Gary Galley, 7; Steva Yadon,' Neldon Seitz, 4; and Jerry Allred, 2. Uintah hit 5 out of 16 free throws. Scoring points for Union were: Cory Dye, 13; Grant Cook, 12; Greg Bellon, 10; Bryan Snow, 7; Dean Townsend, 7; Ricky Nielson, 5; James White, 4 and Lynn Johnson, 2. Uintah's JV team had a one point lead of 26 to 25 at the end of the first half in a game at Bountiful, Nov. 29, but the Bountiful crew outscored Uintah, 30 to 21 in the second half to win the game, 55 to 47. The score was tied at 14-14 after one quarter and Bountiful had a 40-33 lead after three quarter of action. Galley was the number one scorer for the Utes with 14 points on six field goals and two free throws. Also scoring points for Uintah were: Yadon, 13; Crowell, 10; Blake Ewell, 4; Mark Gamble, 2; Bigelow, 2 and Nelson Seitz, 2. Uintah hit 13 out of 17 free throws. Lehi defeated Uintah's junior varsity team, 76 to 48 and downed the Utes' sophomore team, 81 to 49. The Pioneers had a five point lead of 10 to 5 after one quarter in the junior varsity encounter. Galley was the top Uintah junior varsity scorer with 21 points on nine field goals and three free throws. Also scoring points for the Utes were: Seitz, 9; Yadon, 6; Allred, 4; Paul Hacking, 3; Ewell, 2; Crowell, 2; and Gamble, 1. Uintah's sophomore team toppled Union by three points.
